So, after many months of ignoring my BLOG and realistically making it essentially a useless marketing tool I am now going to make a new effort to keep it up to date. This is mostly because I still don't have the skills to update my website, or maybe knowledge, and don't want to spend the money getting someone to do it for me. I am not sure I even have any fans left, my wife didn't know I had a blog, but maybe I can stir some up.
The image shown here is my first painting in 27 years. It is on a 10" x 10" canvas and is acrylic. I painted it for the opening event for the 2011 Revelstoke Spirit Festival which was a silent auction where they gave us the canvases and opened up the theme to 'anything goes'. The concept that came to me was a bit out there but fortunately not too out there for someone to purchase it. The title is 'Last one out close the gate'. An angel, returning from battle, enters the gates of Heaven? or is he leaving Heaven? Is he the last one left? What epic seige has torn the gates asunder? What is the river he floats on? What is the divine light in the distance? I try to understand what it means, I felt like he was leaving for the last time, that he was the last of his kind. I really don't know what it means.
